Medscape Medical News recently contacted me to share my perspective on private equity in ophthalmology for their article, “The Golden Handcuffs of Private Equity.” In my work with physicians, I’ve seen how deals that appear promising on paper can lead to disappointment when the financial structure isn’t fully understood. Private equity and family office investments can create valuable opportunities, but without clear financial trends, reliable forecasts, and auditable financials, physicians often lose leverage during negotiations. When it comes to selling a practice, the details of the deal can make all the difference.
We had an incredible experience at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Conference in Orlando this year! Our private Physicians’ Strategic Breakfast at Trabucco, Hilton Orlando, brought together forward-thinking physicians, entrepreneurs, and financial leaders to explore the Physician Freedom Roadmap™ 2025–2026.
Together with Austin Coley, CFP®, Tina McGill, CPA, shared actionable insights on tax strategy, wealth building, and AI leverage — helping attendees discover how to achieve financial freedom and maximize practice value without selling to private equity.
Tina recently spoke at the Scaling New Heights Conference, presenting on business acquisition strategies to an audience of 64 advisors, CPAs, bookkeepers, and accountants.
Post-event surveys rated the session 93% across all categories, including learning objectives, materials, timing, and instructor effectiveness.
Tina thanks all attendees for making the session a success and remains committed to delivering actionable insights that help professionals and business owners navigate growth and transition with confidence.
Earlier this year, I was humbled to share my story in Our Tennessee magazine—a journey from a young mom finishing her degree at UT Southern to founding MMAS CPA and now inspiring the next generation of accountants to dream bigger.
This path has been full of hard work, faith, and growth, and I’m grateful for everyone who believed in me along the way. Your encouragement reminds me daily that grit and grace can take you far.
Here’s to my hometown, my mom, and every student wondering what’s next—you’ve got this!
